Hi Group – Opinions Please! At least five times a week I do twenty minutes of Pilates and then I ”meditate?” for twenty-five to thirty minutes. My question is two-fold, 1.) I choose to lie on my back to meditate because I carry sooo… much tension in my neck and shoulders that meditating in the sitting position is uncomfortable and I am unable to relax. Good or bad idea? 2.) After I totally relax my body I sometimes visualize myself in a beautiful place floating on azure-colored water listening to waterfalls and the “music” of the forest. Other times, I do some work on my chakras or pay attention to my breathing but my mind never quiets. What do you do with thinking during meditation?
**Update** A member of a Group I belong to on LinkedIn recommended Rod Stryker’s CD – “Relax into Greatness” a type of guided meditation called yoga nidra. I took his advice and ordered it. Now, my mind is quieter and my meditation experience is so relaxing I come away from it feeling peaceful and invigorated.
